At MCMS, we have been enjoying great success with our students using our new program, ClassBank, to teach student’s financial literacy while simultaneously rewarding them for displaying the traits of being positive, respectful, and responsible. Students are able to spend their earnings at our school store, the Wildcat Warehouse. We are able, in part, to keep our store stocked through the generous donations of our community. If you are interested in donating via our Amazon wishlist, we have added items that will help restock our inventory. Our wishlist can be found linked here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3S0VVB1EWWV1B... If you are interested, you can make a charitable donation via our school's Webstore linked here: https://mc-wildcats.revtrak.net/montgome.../ms-donations/... Thank you again to the community for the support you have shown us, we appreciate you!

Students are working on perfecting our CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning) response skills in 6th Grade ELA. Today students worked in pairs to complete a text evidence scavenger hunt where they were tasked with identifying the most relevant evidence from a short story we recently read.

Fridays are team building days in Academic Lab, a chance for students and teachers to get to know one another and really build a sense of community. This past week, in Mrs. Healy's AcLab, students worked in small groups to create Similarity Towers. Each group was given ten minutes to write down as many similarities amongst themselves as they could. They were then challenged to build the tallest towers they could out of those similarities. Great teamwork, Wildcats!

Mrs. Healy's ELA students are reading a short story, "Home," by Hena Khan to learn how characters grow and change through their interactions with secondary characters. This week they worked by partner reading to work on reading fluence and answer some in-reading questions. Mrs. Healy reports she is very proud of how supportive and cooperative her students were in the activity. Way to go, Wildcats!
