Mrs. Healy's ELA students are reading a short story, "Home," by Hena Khan to learn how characters grow and change through their interactions with secondary characters. This week they worked by partner reading to work on reading fluence and answer some in-reading questions. Mrs. Healy reports she is very proud of how supportive and cooperative her students were in the activity. Way to go, Wildcats!

MCMS Athletic Competitions kicked off today with Cross Country at the New Haven Invitational. We sent seven athletes to run today and they all ran excellent times for their first ever MS cross country race, and on a long, hilly course at that. Way to go, Wildcats!

Wildcat Families, The first week was a pretty big success and we are extremely grateful to be able to be a part of your child's educational journey. After the first week, though, it is perhaps necessary to make families aware of our dropoff and pickup expectations. Our ultimate goal is to keep all our kids safe, and traffic flowing so there is not a long line for you to sit through. Beginning Tuesday, if you are dropping a student off, please be sure you are aware that our doors do not open until 7:30. There is not a staff member on duty to keep your child safe, so please do not drop them off prior to that time. If you choose to arrive before 7:30, please do not stop in the driving lane of our parking lot blocking traffic. Please pull into a parking spot so through traffic can still reach their destination. The dropoff point is in the parking lot in front of the gym. Please see the attached image. For pickup, please note, we do not have a passing lane. Please do not use the South-bound lane as a lane to pass the line of vehicles waiting to pickup their student. Our students are precious and should be able to cross the parking lot safely. The easiest way I have found to navigate pickup is to back into a parking space in front of the middle school so I can easily maneuver once my child is in the car. Please note, if you are pulling up to pickup your child, you must come to the front of the middle school main entrance near the old flag pole (please see the attached image). Having you pull up to our line of sight is the best way to help us keep all our students safe. We are incredibly thankful for your help in this! Thank you, Mrs. River Principal
