PSAT
Sophomores and Juniors wishing to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship or prepare for the SAT will be eligible to take the PSAT on October 1st during the school day. The PSAT is a timed exam that measures college preparedness in areas of reading, writing and math. It is important to note that students who are working to be a National Merit Scholarship will need to take the test their Junior year but are encouraged to also test as sophomores to practice the format and style of the test. The cost is $18 and can be paid by cash, check or credit card on the MCR2 webstore. Students should sign up in the office. If you have any questions please reach out to Casey Dillon-Chipman at cdillonchipman@mc-wildcats.org.

Fall is coming. With fall comes cooler weather, changing of the leaves, and pumpkin favored everything. MCHS is a pumpkin free zone - that means not flavor, scent, or lotion. There are signs up around school as a reminder for everyone.

We will host a College and Career Day for 10th-11th graders on October 3rd. There will be a variety of colleges (Community, Technical and 4 year College), career/job opportunities, and civic groups available for our students to gather information and ask questions. During that same time, the freshman will be participating in a Freshman Bootcamp (students will be placed into small groups and discuss a variety of topics - mental health, advocating for self, navigating all things high school, etc).

MCHS would like to introduce the Registered Youth Apprenticeship (RYA) program. In partnership with the Department of Labor, RYA opportunities are industry driven with career focus. The RYA program provides a platform to prepare students for the workforce through a variety of work and classroom experiences, mentors, and ability to earn a wage. This year, MCHS is excited to have our first placement, Kylie Powell. Kylie, a senior, is currently working as a paraprofessional at Montgomery City Elementary, where she is working with students everyday and learning alongside quality professionals.

Working with Student
Dear Parents,

Great news! Our school has partnered with Smile Programs…The Mobile Dentists to offer in-school dental care on November 13, 2025 and May 14, 2026.
Sign up your child today at https://www.myschooldentist.com/MGMCMO_schsrm

Even better, dental care is usually at no cost to you. All insurance is accepted including Medicaid and CHIP. For those without insurance, a low cost self-pay option is available.

Our in-school dental program saves you time and provides a safe and comfortable place for your child to receive gentle dental care from licensed local professionals.

Dental care includes a complete dental exam, x-rays, cleaning, fluoride and sealants when necessary, and in some cases, restorative care such as fillings.

Children who see a dentist regularly may have fewer health issues like:
Early tooth loss caused by dental decay
Gum disease
Heart disease
Impaired speech development

Help keep your child healthy, in school and learning. Please complete the application using the link above if you are interested in your student being seen by the dentist. Call the high school if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Jessica Fredrick, RN

While our students were enjoying their summer, our maintenance, grounds, and custodial crews were working hard to transform the cafeteria and the south end of our building (business, library, math, and science rooms). We hope that all students have enjoyed their summer, but are happy to have them back into the building to start the school year. We are looking forward to a great year.

Here a a few reminders as school begins -
- Schedules, including lockers, will be handed out during first hour
- Students that drive need to register their vehicle with the office. Each driver will be given a car tag. The tag needs to be hung from the rearview mirror and the student needs to park in the appropriate parking spot.
- Students that turned in their paperwork will get tags on Tuesday.
- All drivers planning to drive to school need to have their paperwork in by Friday (8/22).
- We will meet with each grade level on the first day (seniors - 2nd, juniors - 3rd, sophomores - 5th, freshman - 6th). The purpose of these meetings are to go over changes for the 25-25 school year, expectations, and school procedures.
- Students can only change schedules during the first week of the semester.
- There is a class change request form from the office - get the signatures from the teachers (class leaving and class wanting) and turn it into the office.
- Schedule requests may or may not be approved. The office looks at class numbers, students ICAP, schedule availability, along with other things.
- We have a new messaging program this year through Apptegy. You will get a message (text) invitation. Please download the link. You sign into Rooms using your phone number.
- Per Senate Bill 68 - Personal Communication Devices; including but not limited to cell phones, smart watches, and/or wireless earbuds, must be out of sight (in lockers or cars).
