HOMELESS STUDENT LIASON

The Montgomery County R-II School District recognizes that homeless students are particularly vulnerable and need special assistance to access and benefit from the educational environment.  Children and youth who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate residence may be considered homeless according to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act of 2001. This includes youth who are:

  • Temporarily "doubled up" with relatives or friends due to loss of housing or economic hardship.

  • Living in motels, hotels, or campgrounds due to a lack of alternative accommodations.

  • Abandoned in hospitals.

  • Living in emergency or transitional shelters.

  • Not residing with their legal parent or guardian.

The District has appointed the position of the Superintendent to act as the District Homeless Liaison.  The Superintendent has appointed the position of the Assistant Superintendent to act as the District Homeless Liaison in absence of the Superintendent.  Contact information is below.
