Parents As Teachers

The Parents as Teachers program is designed to offer developmental information and support to parents of infants and young children. Our goal is to help parents give their children the best possible start in life.

1We believe that young children learn and grow in strong families where parents are able to successfully face the challenge of caring for their children while meeting their work and other responsibilities. Parents as Teachers is a voluntary evidenced based home visiting model, parent coaching and support program that nurtures strong families that allow children to thrive.  Our program is available to all parents of children from birth to age 5 living in the Montgomery County R-II District. We provide personal visits to eligible families and developmental screenings to all preschoolers ages 6 months to five years.

Our Program consists of:

  • Home Visits, where we focus on your individual family and your child’s early childhood development.

  • Group Connections are fun educational opportunities for parent-child activities.

  • Annual Screenings consist of developmental, health, vision and hearing screenings.

Resource/Referral Network is available if a developmental delay or other family need arises.

If you would like to be part of this free program, please contact our Parent Educator Nancy Blaue at 573-220-5696. We would love to meet you and your child!
