The Dynamic Duo at MCE

Mrs. Amy Davis & Ms. Joyce Everett
Guidance Counselors

The dynamic duo applies a tracking theory when it comes to working with students, which means, we follow students through Elementary School until they graduate or leave MCE. So for instance, this year Mrs. Davis has grades 3rd, 4th and 5th, while Ms. Everett has grades K, 1st, & 2nd.

Let us introduce ourselves:

Mrs. Amy Davis (3rd Grade, 4th Grade & 5th Grade Counselor)

Hello, My name is Amy Davis.  I am originally from Bowling Green, MO.  After graduation from high school, I attended St. Louis University and obtained a degree in Communication Arts.  Afterwards, I received my masters from University of Missouri, St. Louis.  Currently, I am working to obtain my licensure in professional counseling.  My husband, Chris Davis and I have two children, Sophia and Malachi.  I look forward to a new school year and being involved in your child’s education.

Ms. Joyce Everett (Kindergarten, 1st Grade & 2nd Grade Counselor)

Hi, my name is Joyce Everett. I graduated High School from New Haven where I currently reside today with my son Austin.  I attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO where I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Rehabilitation Psychology.  I then attended Lindenwood University and I obtained my Masters Degree in Professional Counseling.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor; I have several years of experience working with children and families through individual, group and family therapy sessions.  I am very excited about this school year and being involved in your child’s education.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  Working together we can help your child to succeed to his/her greatest potential.

As school guidance counselors it is our privilege to serve the students here at Montgomery City Elementary through classroom guidance lessons, we will discuss such topics as empathy, feelings, problem solving, peer relationship, decision-making skills, substance abuse issues, cross-cultural understanding and careers.

Each month we will be focusing on a particular character education word. The following topics will be discussed:

ü  October Safety

ü  November/December Kindness

ü  January – Responsibility/Citizenship

ü  February – Cooperation/Honesty

ü  March – Perseverance

ü  April – Self-Confidence

ü  May – Review of all the traits

When needed, we also work with students on an individual or small group basis. Topics in these areas may include; helping students with their emotional growth, peer relationships, self-esteem, grief, behavior, etc.

We are available to parents and students by appointment. Please feel free to contact your child’s counselor at school by calling 564-3711 or by e-mail:
