At Montgomery County R-II, we believe that all children can learn and deserve the opportunity to excel.  We know that traditional instructional methods do not work with everyone and for this reason, we have implemented services to address the needs of all learners.  These services include counseling, individualized instruction and behavior support through Positive Behavior Supports.  During the 2004-05 school year, the At-Risk department expanded to include services to our elementary students.  This elementary Educational Support Program has a focus on math with a combination of “push-in” and “pull-out” services.  For the 2005-06 school year, an additional counselor has been added for Montgomery City Elementary to help with the counseling needs at that building.  Monthly team departmental meetings allow open communication with sharing of ideas and teaching strategies for successful implementation of our educational support programs.   With continued administrative and Board of Education support, we hope to meet the needs of all learners at Montgomery County R-II.

Linda Witte, Director of Special Education/At-Risk Coordinator
