To receive a letter for academic achievement from Montgomery County R‑II High School, a student must have a yearly grade point average of 3.70 or higher.  A student's physical education grade will be calculated in the grade point average beginning with the 2000-01 school year.  Each student must also meet citizenship requirements.  A 95% attendance requirement will also need to be met beginning with the Class of 2003.  The qualifications for each grade level are as follows:
 

FRESHMEN:  Must receive a full credit in an upper level in each of the four core curriculum areas.

Language Arts I

World Citizenship

Algebra I or Geometry

Physical Science


SOPHOMORES:  Must receive a full credit in an upper level class in each of the four core curriculum areas.

Language Arts II

World History

Geometry or Algebra II

Biology I or Biology II


JUNIORS:  Must receive three credits in upper level classes in any of the core curriculum areas and one additional credit (in either upper level practical and/or fine arts or the core curriculum) and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.

Language Arts III, Honors III

American Government, Geography, Development of the United States I and II, Applied Economics, History and Geography of Missouri

Algebra II or Math Analysis

Conceptual Physics, Biology II, Chemistry, Physics

Symphonic Band, Honors Choir, Concert Choir, Spanish II, Spanish III, French II, French III, Accounting I, Micro Business Applications, Multimedia, Exploration of Technology, Drafting & Design II, Agricultural Construction, Agribusiness Sales and Marketing, Industrial Woods Technology II, Art II, Art III, Foods I, Foods II


SENIORS:  Must receive three credits in upper level classes in any of the core curriculum areas and one additional class (in either upper level practical arts and/or fine arts or the core curriculum) and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.

The academic letters will be awarded on a yearly basis.  Seniors will have their grade point average figured after the third quarter grades of their senior year.  Every other grade will be figured after the fourth quarter grade has been given.  In the future, if upper level classes need to be added to any of the areas, they will be added to this list.
